Ahmedabad owns the unique claim of being the only place in the world with buildings designed by two 20th century architectural masters, Louis Kahn (American) and Le Corbusier (Swiss-French).

The exquisitely carved Hira Gate of Dabhoi is associated with the tragic legend of the fort's architect, Hiradhar Shilpi. Hiradhar secretly built a lake to honor his lover as he was constructing the fort. Upon discovery, he was accused of embezzlement and buried alive under the arch, directly below the relief of an elephant.

The intriguing Ranns of Kachchh are seasonal marshes that transform into salt deserts during the summer months. The Great Rann is also a breeding ground for flamingoes and the Little Rann is the only remaining natural abode of the endangered Indian Wild Ass.

In Ahmedabad, there is a Hanuman temple called Visa Hanuman as it is believed that the particular deity can facilitate visa formalities. Photocopies of the passport and visa forms are offered by the devotees.

A goat accompanied Mahatama Gandhi when he went to London for the Round Table Conference in 1931, as he drank only fresh goat’s milk.
